Jul. 31 – Aug. 2 PORTSMOUTH, N.H.—Top lot: In a massive sale that achieved an impressive sell-through rate of 95 percent by lot, the standout was a rare Chippendale walnut lowboy, whose carved shell and foliate decoration suggests either a Philadelphia or a Maryland origin. The piece realized $58,500. "In Brief: Northeast" originally appeared in the October 2009 issue of Art+Auction.
