Work Proceeds on Sperone Westwater’s New Gallery
Published: October 2, 2009
NEW YORK—Work is proceeding on the new Sperone Westwater gallery on the Lower East Side, which will provide double the space of Sperone’s current 10,000-square-foot gallery in the Meatpacking District.
The new gallery, located in the Bowery, one block north of the New Museum, is expected to be one of the city’s more impressive exhibition spaces. British architect Norman Foster has designed a 10-story translucent building to house Sperone, which will have five floors of exhibition space. To date, the concrete foundation has been poured, and the completion date, originally planned for this December, is now set for next spring. Read more at Lindsay Pollock Art Market Views.
