LONDON—Top lot: Dame Laura Knight’s 1911 watercolor on linen Wind and Sun brought £914,850 ($1,498,158), accounting for almost a third of the house’s sales total and setting a new auction record for the English Impressionist. Knight was the first artist to be made Dame.

MELBOURNE, Australia—Top lot: The Australian Aboriginal artist William Barak’s 1824-1903 drawing Corroboree sold for $A504,000 ($424,381), more than double its high estimate. Barak, who was also a spokesman for Aboriginal social justice, used earth pigments in his work, which are highly prized in his native country.
