LOS ANGELES—Add another art fair to L.A.’s January calendar. The last weekend of that month will see the inaugural Art Los Angeles Contemporary fair come to L.A.’s Pacific Design Center just a few days after the Los Angeles Art Show at the L.A. Convention Center and Art L.A., which takes place this year at a new location on South La Brea Avenue.

Director Tim Fleming hopes to sign up about 50 galleries for Art Los Angeles Contemporary and has thus far booked 1301PE, Peres Projects, David Kordansky, and Blum & Poe of Los Angeles, as well as Klosterfelde of Berlin and Starkwhite of Auckland, New Zealand. The fair will take place on the second floor of the design center, which was built to showcase interior design but has become increasingly popular with the contemporary-art set.
