Artist Removes ‘Fake’-Looking Frieze Project

LONDON—All that’s left — in concept, at least — of Monika Sosnowska’s planned sculpture for the Frieze Art Fair is a dent in a tent.

The project, one of seven site-specific commissions this year that constitute Frieze Projects, was designed to appear as if a concrete monolith had crash-landed on a corner of a Frieze tent. But the Polish artist decided the work, made of plywood coated in jesmonite, looked "fake" and had it dismantled Tuesday night, saying it “was the only honest thing I could do.” The sculpture is still part of Frieze Projects, but, according to Sosnowski, “it is now a work in progress.”
