Warhol's Flowers (1970), a complete set of ten screenprints in colors, was the sale's top lot, earning $386,500 on estimates of $250–350,000. All in all, 20 record prices were achieved for prints by Warhol, Chagall, Miró, and Johns. In total, the sale of modern, postwar, and contemporary works earned $7,604,813, with 373 of the 440 lots on offer finding buyers, for sold rates of 85 percent by lot and 89 percent by value. Rounding out the top 10 were works by Toulouse-Lautrec, Johns, and de Kooning. |
