Prada Struts Its Stuff

Published: November 17, 2009
LOS ANGELES—It’s doubtful that a book party has ever been as sophisticatedly sexy as the one held last Friday night at the Prada Epicenter, designed by Rem Koolhaas’s Office for Metropolitan Architecture, as celebrities from every area of culture came out to celebrate the launch of the redoubtable Italian luxury giant’s new book — called, elegantly enough, Prada Book — a 700-page tome on the history, message, and style of the company.

Many of the famous and fashionable came besuited in the designs of Miuccia Prada, who was there to welcome her fans. Actresses Jessica Alba, Jessica Biel, and Christina Ricci favored the Prada label, while Chloe Sevigny, Emma Roberts, and Zoe Saldana opted for the firm’s younger, arguably edgier line, Miu Miu. Regardless of their preference, they looked well equipped for the festivities.

Other visitors to the event included Garage Center for Contemporary Culture director Dasha Zhukova, P.S.1 director Klaus Biesenbach, and artist Barry McGee. The Prada Book is available at fine bookstores and on the company’s Web site for $125.
