The firm presented this week its design for a small-scale, temporary performance space for the Munich Opera Festival 2010, to be installed in the city's Marstallplatz. The firm is currently working on three large-scale opera and concert halls, in China, Denmark, and Spain, but says that the 300-seat "Pavilion 21 MINI Opera Space," is one of its most interesting projects right now, in part because of the challenges of providing both mobility and excellent acoustics.

The approximately 6,000-square-foot pavilion is anchored by a sloping, trapezoidal component, but characterized by an outcropping of pyramidal structures that have been "generated parametrically through the overlay of sound frequencies from Jimi Hendrix’s song ”Purple Haze” and Mozart’s opera Don Giovanni. The shapes are meant to reflect and reduce sound. Construction costs are estimated at €2.1 million ($3.1 million).
