RICHMOND, Va.—Heather Russell, an art adviser, art historian, and gallerist, is launching Russell Projects, a 1,500-square-foot space in a renovated warehouse, in the city’s Manchester arts district. "I plan to bring a long-overdue infusion of work by emerging and midcareer artists to Virginia," says Russell, who has worked at James Cohan Gallery, in New York, Irvine Contemporary, in D.C., and Sotheby’s New York. The gallery opens on January 22 with paintings by Helena Wurzel. "I’m excited to be in this industrial area," says Russell. "It’s seeing real rehabilitation and historic preservation and ushering in a renaissance in artist lofts and galleries."
