It was a charming surprise, then, to see that Singapore’s ambassador to the United Nations, Vanu Gopala Menon, braved the winter cold on the evening of Jan. 14 to see his countryman’s new exhibition. When was the last time one saw U.S. ambassador to the United Nations Susan Rice making her way to Chelsea to catch Sterling Rubys latest new show?
Ong, who is considered one of Singapore’s preeminent contemporary artists, has lined the walls of Tyler Rollins Fine Art with monumental drawings that show characters from India’s ancient Ramayana epic joining in combat and caresses. The exhibition, titled “Sitayana,” runs through Feb. 27.
