Art Miami hopes to fill the 100,000 square feet of its pavilion with art and antiques in February 2011.
FIFAF plans to differentiate itself from the pack by inviting international galleries to show a wide range of work--including contemporary design, decorative arts, and antiques, and art-- in the 100,000-square-foot pavilion where Art Miami holds its December art fair, which celebrated its 20th anniversary last year. The fair will run from Feb. 2 to Feb. 7, 2011, though the most devoted collectors will want to shuttle into town a bit earlier for the opening-night vernissage on Tuesday, Feb. 1. Proceeds from that preview reception will benefit an as-yet-unnamed local charity. According to Art Miami LLC partner and show director Nick Korniloff, the company has ambitious plans for the fair. “Our goal is to turn FIFAF into the important destination for fine art dealers and collectors on a level similar to Maastricht,” he said in a statement, comparing the planned fair to the annual Dutch art and antiques expo, which is one of the leading destinations on the international art calendar. |
