Concluding its 16th biennial competition, the Louise Comfort Tiffany Foundation announced today the 30 winners of its unrestricted $20,000 grants.
Among the lucky honorees are Kate Gilmore, who creates and stars in quirky, colorful videos; Sarah Oppenheimer, whose clever architectural interventions have earned her growing recognition; and An-My Lê, one of the most established of the emerging artists recognized by the committee.
The 2009 jury included Yale School of Art dean Robert Storr, artist Martin Puryear, former Cranbrook Academy of Art director Gerhardt Knodel, curator Apsara DiQuinzio, U.S. Artists director Amanda Cruz, MFA Boston curator Jen Mergel, and critic John Perreault.
