This week heralds Louis Vuittons Young Arts Projects inaugural "academy" — a five-day intensive workshop that is a part of the larger program launched in May by the art-savvy fashion house to bring arts education to interested young Londoners between the ages of 13 and 25. The Royal Academy Schools and Louis Vuitton’s New Bond Street store (in which shoppers can admire a large work by Gilbert and George) are hosting this event, which has been organized by multimedia artist and master of disguise Jessica Voorsanger.

"This program revolves around portraiture, which I specialize in, and effectively these young people will be my assistants, helping me produce six portraits," Voorsanger told Dazed Digital. "These photos are going to be a follow-on from a work I've been doing called the Imposter Series where I've dressed up as famous people."

Apart from the fact that this sounds somewhat like indentured servitude, the newest arts initiative from the company that teamed up with Takashi Murakami to construct a boutique in the Brooklyn Museum is sure to be interesting; along with the Royal Academy, it has South London Gallery (the leader among the arts institutions backing the young people's forum), the Hayward Gallery, Tate Britain, and the Whitechapel Gallery on its side.

And what 13- to 25-year-olds, whether they are actually interested in contemporary art or not, would turn down a chance to revisit the glory days of playing dress-up? Especially under the tutelage of Voorsanger, whose 2008 video piece "Intro to dance" certainly proves her professorial merit.
