– Sex Jesus Basher on the Loose!: Kathleen Folden, the truck driver who went all apocalyptic on artist Enrique Chagoya's satirical lithographic featuring the Christian savior in remarkably compromising circumstances, has been freed on a $350 bond fronted by an anonymous benefactor. Moments later Glenn Beck may have been spotted leaving the jailhouse, his cape lifted to obscure his face as he crept into the shadows. [Coloradan]

– Ab-Ex Show Invaded by Fakes!: The New York Times has appended an "editors' note" to Roberta Smith's review of MoMA's current Ab-Ex show to state that the photographer responsible for the accompanying shot of innocent-looking people basking in the exhibition's period glow actually staged the photo, using MoMA employees to stand in for average schnooks. "Such staging of news pictures violates The Times’s standardsand [sic] the photographs should not have been published," the note states. [NYT]

– Lawyer As Arts Donor: Randol Schoenberg, the lawyer who won the restitution of Klimt paintings seized by Nazis from the family of Maria Altmann, has funded a $18 million expansion to the Los Angeles Museum of the Holocaust, of which he is also president. "I think it makes sense," he said. "I’ve been fortunate as a result of the Altmann case." One of the paintings returned in the 2006 court decision, the 1907 "Portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer I," was reportedly sold to Neue Galerie patron Ronald Lauder for $135 million. [Art Newspaper]

– Capital Advance: Parrish Art Museum curator Klaus Ottmann has been appointed curator at large at Washington's Phillips Collection, where he will oversee the three-year-old Center for the Study of Modern Art and produce exhibitions. [NYT]

– Death at an Art Fair: Set to coincide with next week's Frieze Art Fair, the eccentric venue All Visual Arts will display an extensive exploration of mortal decay entitled "Vanitas: the Transience of Earthly Pleasures," including works ranging from Northern Renaissance paintings to a life-sized electric chair swarmed by porcelain butterflies. [Telegraph]

– Crown-Pleasing Crowd-Pleasers: According to recent studies based on attendance rates from August 2010, more people than ever before are visiting the Britain's museums: the Victoria & Albert saw a 24 percent increase since August 2009, the National Gallery went up 18 percent, and  the already popular four branches of Tate saw a crowd boost of 15 percent. [Art Daily]

– "The Time of the Hero," the Author: 74-year-old renowned Peruvian novelist, playwright, and essayist Mario Vargas Llosa, who is also an esteemed professor at Princeton University, thought the Nobel Prize selection committee was joking when they first told him that he is to receive the 2010 Nobel Prize for literature. [BBC]

– A Built-Up Career: Joining the prestigious ranks of Norman Foster and Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, British architect David Chipperfield — who has designed everything from Issey Miyake storefronts, to London’s River and Rowing Museum, to the Stirling Prize-winning Museum of Modern Literature in Germany — has been awarded the Royal Gold Medal for lifetime achievement in architecture. [Artforum]

– Gehry’s "Cultural Jewel" May Outshine Culture: Lower Manhattan’s Joyce Theater is bracing itself for a bout of vacancy now that the city has designated $100 million in funding towards a new performing arts center, designed by Frank Gehrys firm, which is hoped to revive the culture of New York’s Ground Zero arena. [Hyperallergic]

– Calling All Dapper Artists: Rag & Bone's boutique on Houston Street is looking for an artist to decorate the outside of theirstore. Win a $1,000 gift certificate and immortal retail fame! [Paper]
