– Ab-Ex Show Invaded by Fakes!: The New York Times has appended an "editors' note" to Roberta Smith's review of MoMA's current Ab-Ex show to state that the photographer responsible for the accompanying shot of innocent-looking people basking in the exhibition's period glow actually staged the photo, using MoMA employees to stand in for average schnooks. "Such staging of news pictures violates The Times’s standardsand [sic] the photographs should not have been published," the note states. [NYT]

– Lawyer As Arts Donor: Randol Schoenberg, the lawyer who won the restitution of Klimt paintings seized by Nazis from the family of Maria Altmann, has funded a $18 million expansion to the Los Angeles Museum of the Holocaust, of which he is also president. "I think it makes sense," he said. "I’ve been fortunate as a result of the Altmann case." One of the paintings returned in the 2006 court decision, the 1907 "Portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer I," was reportedly sold to Neue Galerie patron Ronald Lauder for $135 million. [Art Newspaper]
