In late September, news broke that Graham Southern and Harry Blain — who in August departed Haunch of Venison, the gallery they founded, which is now owned by Christie’s — planned to open a new space, BlainSouthern, at 21 Dering Street in London on October 12, where they will exhibit their longtime artists Mat Collishaw, Anton Henning, Rachel Howard, and Bill Viola. Blain is also partnering with former Sotheby’s specialist Emmanuel Di Donna to launch Blain Di Donna, in New York , which will handle secondary-market sales of Impressionist, modern, and contemporary art. "The two of us are very complementary in terms of our expertise and background," says Di Donna. "We have a wide reach geographically and will be taking property from Europe to the United States, and vice versa. At the moment there is a healthy flow of property on the market." The dealers will announce their Upper East Side location closer to the time of their opening, which Di Donna says is likely to be in December.
