Plans and additional renderings of the Apple Campus 2, designed by architect Norman Foster, have been released, giving the world a betterglimpse into the proposed spaceship-esque complex.
The city of Cupertino published Apple's plans on its municipal websiteearlier this week, sharing details of the tech juggernaut's new playground:the building itself would be approximately 2.8 million square feet and fourstories high, featuring a 1,000-seat auditorium (to hold probably the largestassemblies ever), a fitness center, and 300,000 square feet of researchfacilities.
Before these plans can be fully realized, Cupterino's City Council will assesstheir environmental impact and go through the appropriate public hearings atits Planning Commission, although it seems likely they will be approved. InJune, Mayor Gilbert Wong enthusiastically stated, "There is no chance we aresaying no."
Based on these new renderings, it appears Apple's new campus will be asleek stomping ground of curved glass and steel in an idyllic setting, which the company clearly believes will emanate rays of sunshine onto its 12,000 employees — if not a terrifyingscene from "War of the Worlds." Construction on the behemoth is expected to becomplete in 2015.
