A contestant hard at work on the new season of "Work of Art: The Next Great Artist".

First there was an earthquake, then the hurricane, and now... the return of Bravo's "Work of Art: The Next Great Artist"! Harbingers of end-times are aplenty this week, it seems. So, what is in store for us when the art world's reality TV show of choice returns on October 12?

Well, for one thing, it seems that Salon 94 gallerist Jeanne Greenberg Rohatyn has flown the coop as a full-time judge, leaving the show in the hands of returning judges Jerry Saltz, Bill Powers, and China Chow, along with heel-clicking gentleman auctioneer Simon de Pury as the "mentor to the contestants."

The rewards remain the same: $100,000 and a show at the "world famous Brooklyn Museum" for the scrappy emerging artist who can aesthetically claw his or her way to the top of the heap through a variety of challenges. This time around, at least one of those challenges will involve the the French martial-arts-inflected escape discipline of Parkour.

So what do we know about the contestants? Well, one goes by the name Sucklord. Others have studied with artist Marilyn Minter, "graduated top of their class at Yale" (art school?), and, remarkably, "even had their work sold by Phillips de Pury Auction & Company." Now that's mentoring contestants!

Among the show's guest judges will be ludic conceptualist Adam McEwen, street-art and figurine guru KAWS, photographer Mary Ellen Mark, and Greenberg Rohatyn, who couldn't stay away entirely.

Stay tuned for more details. In the meantime, here's a full list of the contestant details — first names only — as provided by the good folks at Bravo:
