Since its inception in 2002, Art Basel Miami Beach has transformed the city’s cultural scene, luring the international art elite to the Sunshine State every December. This year the art fair by the bay pulls out all the stops for its 10th-anniversary edition.
GO
ART BASEL MIAMI BEACH
WHEN: December 1–4
WHERE: Miami Beach Convention Center
HIGHLIGHTS: Hosting more than 260 galleries from around the world, this year’s fair includes Zurich’s Galerie Peter Kilchmann, São Paulo’s Dan Galeria, and New York’s Gavin Brown’s Enterprise. For the re-styled Art Public sector, curated by Christine Y. Kim, organizers have partnered with the Bass Museum, which will house some of the artworks, while the adjacent Collins Park will be home to installations and performances. In addition to the well-known names featured throughout the fair, emerging talents will be showcased in the Art Positions section, in which each participating dealer exhibits a single major work by one of its up-and-comers, such as Jessica Warboys, at Gaudel de Stampa, of Paris; and Jorge Satorre, at Labor, of Mexico City.
